What is going on with the “perfect day project” in mahaual, and what threat withholds to worldwide biodiveristy

UPDATE ++

When the last tree has been cut down, the last river poisoned, and the last fish caught, will men realize that the money of a few cannot be eaten?

What is “The Perfect project”? Who is responsible for that project? and most importantly, what can I do to help?

The Perfect Day project is planned for construction on over 90 hectares of mangrove forest. The park would include more than 30 water slides, artificial beaches, swimming pools, bars, and restaurants, with the capacity to receive up to 20,000 visitors daily, in a community with fewer than 2,600 inhabitants.

This would endanger hundreds of species of both terrestrial and marine flora and fauna, including endangered species, not to mention all the pollution the ocean would receive from the park’s chemicals, products like sunscreen used by visitors, and all the trash that would end up in the sea

  1. SIGN the petition to stop the project https://www.change.org/p/claudiashein-salvemos-mahahual-detengamos-el-proyecto-destructivo-de-royal-caribbean
  2. Donate at dmas.mx (they are handling the legal aspects to stop the project; they are suing Royal Caribbean)
  3. SHARE the information, MAKE SOME NOISE
  4. LOOK FOR and GET INVOLVED in projects or forms of protest that are within your reach. IF THERE ARE NONE, start organizing.
we are earth, we are sea, we are mahauhual

SEMARNAT (Secretaría de Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales / The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources) “confirmed” the project is canceled, but there is no official document signed!!
